Support Frequently Asked Questions

Dual Sim Phones Support

Q: What is a Dual SIM phone?

A Dual SIM phone is a phone that can accommodate two SIMs at the same time. Therefore It works on the dual SIM technology.

Q: What is a Real Dual Standby?

All our mobiles are REAL "Dual Standby" So you can dial or send a text from either simcard without having to switch sims on the mobile unlike models like Samsung E2152 & many IPhone copies. These have to select the active sim or the mobile switches disabling the non active sim.

With REAL "Dual Standby" as both lines are in standby you can receive or dial either sim card at any time unless you are actually on a call.

Q: What networks can I use in our Dual Sim Phones?

Our dual sim phones are independent of any mobile network. Our dual sim phones are compatible with the main network service providers in the UK & worldwide.

Compatible UK networks Orange, Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, Virgin, Giff Gaff, Tesco, Asda, Talk Mobile

But please note that most will not function on the 3 network as all mobiles are 2G mobiles, unless advised otherwise.

Q: Which if any Dual Sim Phones work with 3G sim cards?

We have succesfully sourced a compatible mobile that will genuinely work with 3G networks in UK including 3UK. We have tried & tested the unlocked 3G dual sim mobile phones and they work well with 3 UK network & other compatible 3G networks 3G WCDMA  850MHz, 1900MHz, 2100MHz 3G worldwide frequencies.

Beware as during testing we have found previously that many 3G dual sim mobiles will not necessarily work outside aisia in countries such as UK unlike our mobiles which are all compatible.
Overall we were very impressed by these recently added (Feb 2012 mobiles).

3G Dual Sim Phones now available

Q: I have inserted a 3 network SIM and the Dual Sim Mobile says ‘Insert SIM’.

Please note that most of our dual sim phones work on 2G technology and unfortunately do not support 3 network SIM cards unless specificly stated otherwise. This is possible on a limited number of mobiles.

Q: Can both my SIM cards be active at the same time?

Yes Dual SIM phones technology is almost equivalent to carrying two mobile phones. It is possible to receive and dial from either sim at any time. You can also send and receive texts on both the SIMs at the same time.

The only time only one sim card is active is if you are currently taking a call on the 1st sim card. The dual sim phone will not be possible to receive a 2nd call as the 1st is busy therefore your 2nd caller will be redirected to the voicemail. Once your call is ended the dual sim mobile will revert back to dual sim functionality.

Q: Will it be possible for me to keep only one SIM active at a time?

Yes all our dual sim phones provide you with the options below

  • Enable Dual SIM
  • Enable SIM1 only
  • Enable SIM2 only
  • Disable both SIM

Q: Do I have to store the contacts separately?

No, your phone book will display all contacts irrespective of if they are stored in SIM1, SIM2 or the phone. You can take a contact from SIM1 and make the call from SIM2 or visa versa.

Q: Can I reply from any of the SIMs for a text?

Yes you can. You could reply to a text in SIM2 from SIM1 by just choosing ‘send by SIM1’ and the same from SIM2.

Q: I have tried connecting to the internet but it won’t work.

All our handsets are SIM free, the internet settings would vary for different networks providers.

To connect to the internet, you can request that the network send you the settings over air. Ie: they will text the settings to your mobile, which you then accept. Usually the network will send the GPRS & WAP settings separately.

Q: Which mobile phone shall I advise the network I have to allow the settings to work?

Most our dual sim phones are compatible with 2 different mobiles Sony Ericsson W850i or Nokia 2610 or equivalent. Advise the network that you have one of these mobiles as they are unlikely to support you if you advise that you have a dual sim phone as it is not in their interest to promote this. It the Sony Ericsson w850i mobile model does not work then try the Nokia.

We have most the UK settings listed on our support pages links below.

This could arise if the contact between SIM card and mobile phone is poor or the SIM card is not inserted correctly. Change the SIM card and try again. The SIM card may have a fault if the mobile phone operates normally. If after trying other sims, please contact your network operator. If there is oxidation on the surface of SIM card or SIM card slot of the mobile phone, please wipe with alcohol or clean cloth.

Ensure your battery is charged sufficiently. If in doubt, leave it to charge for about 20 minutes. Your phone will display a symbol to acknowledge it’s charging if the process has been initiated.
